Event Description The annual event, Founders Day, will be held to celebrate the awarding of Union's charter in 1795 by the New York State Board of Regents. Union was the first college or university to receive a charter in the state so the day is significant for us and New York. This year's Founders Day speaker will be the widely acclaimed author, Walter Stahr. He is the author of the recently published book on William Henry Seward, an 1820 graduate of Union College. We will also award the Gideon Hawley Prize, presented to a teacher nominated by one of our students. This prize not only acknowledges the difference one person has made but also acknowledges the importance of and our gratitude for great teaching. Please plan to attend this year's Founders Day celebration. |
